Call for Participation: Updating the UN/CEFACT eCMR Standard
The UNECE-UN/CEFACT is pleased to launch a call for participation for the project “Updating the UN/CEFACT eCMR Standard.”

The project aims to enhance the electronic Consignment Note (eCMR) standard to reflect technological advances and the evolving needs of international trade and transport operations. Building on implementation experience and stakeholder feedback, the update will ensure the standard remains fit for purpose in a rapidly digitalizing logistics environment.
Key objectives include:
• Updating the core data model and message structures to address gaps identified through pilots and real-world implementations
• Aligning eCMR with the EU eFTI Regulation data subsets, while maintaining consistency with the UN/CEFACT Multi-Modal Transport Reference Data Model
• Supporting legal interoperability by ensuring alignment with the UNECE CMR Convention and its eCMR Protocol
The updated standard will help facilitate the legal recognition and wider adoption of electronic consignment notes across jurisdictions, contributing to more efficient and interoperable digital transport corridors.
